Practice News - New Changes to the Practice from October 2016

We're excited to announce that from October 2016, Dr Jude Mahadanaarachchi will be joining our Practice as a partner.  Dr Jude has a wealth of knowledge and special interest in minor surgery, dermatology, joint injections, palliative care, education, general health & wellbeing.  He will be here on a Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.

However, we are sad to lose Dr Kandiah who will be leaving us at the end of September. We wish her luck for the future!!

Also, Dr Shah will only be available at the Practice on a Monday & Tuesday from October!

Average Earning Calculation for Year End

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

The mean earnings for GPs working in Bousfield Surgery in the financial year period ended 31st March 2016 was £77,000 before deduction of employee's superannuation contributions, tax and National Insurance.  This is the average pay for the 1 full-time GP, 1 part-time GP and 1 locum who worked in the practice for more than 6 months during that year.

Patient Access

Patient Access has been in use in the surgery for some time now and many of our patients are happily using it to book appointments and order repeat prescriptions over the internet.  We have extended the facilities offered using this system so patients may view their medical records electronically through Patient Access.   When registering for this access, 2 forms of documentation must be provided as evidence of identity.  Further information is provided in our Patient Leaflet (Patient Access) - just ask staff for a copy! If you are interested in this service, please speak with the Reception staff who can set this up for you before going on the link below

Allocation of Accountable GP

All our patients have now been allocated an accountable GP, please contact the surgery to obtain the name of your accountable GP.   This will not affect your right to book in with a GP of your choice!

Summary Care Records (SCR)

Summary Care Record is now available which allows patients to give consent for other health care professions to view part of your medical records in times of an emergency, for example:- allergies, medications and medical history (health care professionals can only view with your consent).

Patient Participation Group (PPG)

We are always actively looking for members to join our Patient Group. If you have any time to spare and are interested in joining the group, please speak to someone at Reception and leave your contact details.

Friends & Family Test (FFT)

The Friends & Family Test (FFT) is a feedback tool for people who use NHS Services and to give them an opportunity to provide feedback on their experience which can be used to improve services.  This is available at our Practice and you can complete this when attending for your appointment.   FFT

Patient Responsibilities

You should always notify the surgery should you need to cancel or re-arrange your appointment to allow re-booking for other patients.

If a doctor or nurse has asked you to return to another appointment or to be reviewed it is important that you make an appointment and remember to attend

Always inform the surgery as soon as possible of any changes of address or telephone number.
